Our Story

My name is Michael Hanford I am a combat veteran.  I served from 2002-2005.  Since getting out, I had rough times dealing with ptsd and other ailments that my body has been through. 

In 2015, my buddy took me out disc golfing and I didn’t know it at the time, but that moment changed my life.  Since then, I have noticed that it’s helped a lot with my ptsd; being outside and with people that love this sport.  So, I decided to start Backbone in 2022 to give veterans and everyone else a good store to buy disc golf products, at a great price.
